At the age of 14 Mike was the youngest student ever to study at the famous College of Art, Margaret Street, Birmingham. On completing his studies, he began his career illustrating quality car brochures for Rover – Land Rover and Austin – Austin Healey. He was invited by Lord Montague of Beaulie to prepare an exhibition at The National Motor Museum, celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Rolls Royce Marques from all over the world. The Queen herself opened the exhibition and for Mike, it was a sell-out.
This was followed by a tour of the USA, which was a great success. He now divides his time between painting natural history subjects here in Cornwall and specialising in painting collector cars by commission, placing the vehicle in a background of the owner’s choice.
