Places to Stay in Cornwall

We are often asked by our customers for suggestions on nice places to stay and eat out, whilst they are exploring Cornwall.

There is of course an enormous choice of places within Cornwall to suit all budgets. Below is just a small selection of some of our favorites nearby, each with their own unique character.

One thing they all have in common is great locations, often with lovely views.

Cornish Barn Holidays (B)

We offer tastefully converted barns in a wonderful rural setting in Perranwell. Our properties are family-owned and managed and have been designed to give more space and comfort for couples. The barns make an ideal base for exploring all that Cornwall has to offer, as well as being within walking distance of local pubs, a village shop and post office, a café and Perranwell Classic Car Garage. We are also close to the Truro – Falmouth Maritime Train Line and local bus routes.

The Home Barn

This two storey barn conversion, next to the farmhouse, was once the old hayloft and now offers cosy and stylish accomodation for two. Home Barn comes with flagstone and oak flooring throughout, a luxurious double ended bath, deluge shower and king size bed. With its own totally private garden and sunny balcony, a cosy and very sunny lounge and fully equipped kitchen this could be your perfect Cornish hideaway. Stay at The Home Barn for one week from £390 to £750 for two people.

The Granary

This barn, which was once the farm’s grain store, is detached and sits in its own private grounds, has wide patio doors that open on to its own large private terrace with wonderful views of farmland. The Granary offers spacious, contemporary living with an open-plan layout all on one level, which would also benefit those with limited mobility. And of course there is a fully equipped kitchen, a king size bed room and a bath with a gorgeous view and a walk in deluge shower ! A week’s stay here again starts at £390 for two. (completely pet free for allergy sufferers)

The Snug

Our third property is also perfect for two and is dog friendly too. This detached barn is partly 18^th century but has been lovingly and tastefully renovated. The garden here is a real treat with a wildflower meadow, orchard, river walk and pond. There is a spacious lounge, high beam ceiling, living flame gas fire and fully equipped kitchen, bath and shower and king size bed. The coast to coast cycle path is right on the doorstep and plenty of dog friendly pubs within walking distance. Stay at The Snug for a week from £290 to £590 for two people.

Please note: All the barns have easy parking, they book weekly starting on a Saturday in the peak weeks but are available for short breaks, outside of the peak weeks (there is 3-night minimum stay for short breaks)

The Alverton (C)

This beautifully unique, Grade II listed hotel has stood on its hillside setting since 1830 within the Cornish capital city of Truro. Smithy Cottage (E)

Smithy Cottage is a charming end-terrace, 3 bedroomed traditional property situated at the heart of Perranwell Station, very close to Perranwell Garage. Originally the village blacksmith’s workshop it provides accommodation for up to 6. The cottage is light and airy with original large sash windows to the front and has been designed to create a relaxed and tranquil feel – a perfect place to unwind.

There is a cosy lounge decorated in a boutique style complete with a log burner, TV and comfortable seating, offering a great place to relax in.

Smithy Cottage has a well-equipped kitchen, with dishwasher, single oven and grill, microwave, large fridge freezer and kitchen table. From the kitchen, a stable door leads into a sun room with comfortable chairs overlooking the rear courtyard. There is a downstairs utility room equipped with a toilet, wash basin and washing machine.
Next to the sun room is a large double bedroom with a spacious ensuite bathroom which is also suitable for guests with restricted mobility. Large patio doors lead out from this bedroom into the outside courtyard making it a spacious and peaceful room.
Upstairs, there are two bedrooms. One large double and a second bedroom which can be arranged as a double or two singles plus a spacious walk-in wardrobe. Both bedrooms are decorated to a high standard with relaxation in mind. A modern bathroom with a bath /shower, washbasin and toilet completes the upstairs facilities.
Outside there is a sunny front garden laid to lawn with pretty flower borders; the ‘sun trap’ courtyard at the rear offers a private seating area. This patio is perfect for outside dining, coffee, or an evening aperitif. An outdoor table and chairs, for up to 6 people, is available all year.
There is full gas central heating throughout the property and hot water as required.
All linen and towels are provided (sorry no beach towels).
There is a private free parking space for one car at the front of the property.
Pedestrian access is available at the rear of the property providing level access to the downstairs bedroom. There is a small ramp into this bedroom for those guests using a manual wheelchair or who have limited mobility. We regret, no pets.

The Idle Rocks is situated in a stunning location on the Harbourside of St Mawes. A very stylish waterfront hotel with 19 individually designed bedrooms, each with its own, unique style and charm. Has an award winning restaurant and South facing Terrace offer an ideal location to appreciate the views across the water.
